GSKL's #jointheconversation: Where To, Young Malaysians?
Global Shapers Kuala Lumpur, part of the World Economic Forum's initiative of the Global Shapers Community, will be hosting an interactive afternoon dialogue with some of Kuala Lumpur's prominent youth changemakers on youths in Malaysia.
With Malaysia's median age at 28.9 years, the new Government has recognised the potential and placed great emphasis on both developing and empowering our Malaysian youths. Of significance is the move toward more progressive youth policies. This includes the recent constitutional amendment to lower the voting age (or Undi18) and redefining the youth age segment. More recently, the Government is also supporting paid internships that favours youth development and upskilling.
Whist these are encouraging progress, there still remains deep-rooted and fundamental issues that the Malaysian youth still face such as youth unemployment, talent mismatch and urban-rural inequalities. These issues are even more pertinent now at the back of the IR 4.0 accelerating the growth of new knowledge areas and disrupting conventional career paths. If left unaddressed, our youths may be ill-prepared to unlock these next-Gen opportunities.
So come join us for a dialogue twith our local changemakers who are addressing these challenges and opportunities via education, technology, and personal development, as follows:
1) Danial Rahman - Head of Communications & Strategic Initiatives, OpenLearning Global
2) Yasmin Rasyid - President, EcoKnights
3) Oga Chan - Program Lead, Acumen Academy Malaysia
4) Ida Thien - Co-Founder, Closing The Gap
